Ortsbürgermeister Hans-Werner Peifer hatte am 26.08.2022 zu einer Waldbegehung eingeladen. Das Interesse war groß und so konnte er über 30 Personen begrüßen.

Nicht erst seit Beginn der Corona-Pandemie ist der Wald ein Lieblingsort der Menschen und unverzichtbar für Erholung, Sport und Wandern. Er dient den Bürgern der Gemeinde zusätzlich aber auch als Nutzwald, denn hier wird das Brennholz geschlagen, dass es uns im Winter zu Hause gemütlich warm macht. Doch unsere Wälder leiden aktuell sehr unter dem Klimawandel, der extremen Trockenheit, dem Wildverbiss und einigem mehr.

Wie kommt unser Wald mit diesen Extremsituationen zurecht? Wie funktioniert die Naturverjüngung? Wie können wir unserem Wald bei dem enormen Anpassungsdruck helfen, ist er eigentlich noch zu retten? Wie kann die Forstwirtschaft in Zusammenarbeit mit der Jägerschaft unserem wichtigen Lebensraum dafür Sorge tragen den Wald zu bewahren?

Zu all diesen Fragen nahmen die Försterin Susan Nestler und Revierförster Simon Becker von der Waldwirtschaftsfirma Schmitz aus Ormont in einer offenen und lebhaften Diskussion Stellung.

Im Anschluss an den 3-stündigen Waldbegang hatte die Gemeinde alle Teilnehmer zu einem kleinen Imbiss in die Dorfmühle eingeladen. Hier wurde in geselliger Runde das ein oder andere Thema aus dem Waldbegang aufgegriffen und rege diskutiert.
